Artist Statement

I feel I was most successful with my surreal project only because I tried my best and put a lot of my time in to it. I wanted it to be perfect.Out of my whole portfolio I feel I struggled with my quilt squares the most. All of my squares had to fit together and tell a story but I had to be limited in what I said in my story to make everything work together.

I hope that I can do better in the future by utilizing my time better to finish my work to the best of my abilities. I feel I have learned more then ever in this class. I plan to do more with a camera and not forget all the information I learned about cameras only because if I want to follow my dream and become a make-up artist then I need to see how the make-up will be shot with a camera. I need to know if the make-up will show up for the scene it being used in or if I need to make it darker for the camera to see it for the photo shoot.

I feel I have learned so many things in this class but the one thing that was my favorite was learning how to work photo shop. I never knew how to work photo shop before and now I feel after I graduate I am going to invest in photo shop program because I know I will use it. Out of all the project’s that I did the one that connected to me the most out of all the projects that I did was the quilt squares because it was all about me and my life. working with the project’s I have done in the past made me really try to get to know my self more and expresses my self through my work. The artist I feel I related to the most was BARBARA KRUGER because she just stated how she felt about something and left her photos say the rest.
I feel I have seen improvement as I got more intone with my self and as I got more comfortable with my self. I feel that my quilt square is the most meaningful work that I have done in this class it helped me open up to my self and I feel very connected with my quilt square.

Blow out and panning

I created the blow out effect using iso 50, aperture f8.0, shutterspeed1/15. I think this was the best way only because it was really bright out side.
panning is movment in a photo. panning looks like some one is moving in your photo but they look clear and not blured, and everything around them lloks blured.I feel I did a great job for this being my first time.I put my settings on Iso 50 F8.0 shutter speed 1/40. I wish I would have had more time to make my partner look more still.

shutter speed

shutter speed is how fast the camera is to take a photo, it could take 15 sec or it could take half a sec but it is the langth of time for a camera to take a photo.
the Iso was low for the first to photos some were between 50 and 400 and the last one was at 5000. I really enjoyed taking photos in the dark i didnt know that the camera could see light even in the dark. I would change my shutter speed more then Aperture or iso only because in the dark it needs more time to let light in.
my favorite photo was the bottom one I loved it.

Aperture

the flower on the top has a big aperture which means a small hole so it causes the back round to blur.
the photo with the bridge has a small aperture which means a big hole so there is no blur because it shows the whole photo.

Iso

Upload the following pictures: Iso 5000, Iso 400, Iso 50, FLASH (auto iso) (TITLE EACH OF THEM)

ISO is how sensitive the film is to light and how much light it lets in. the different between ISO and flash is that ISO trys to capture the light and flash adds the light. I would use ISO because I want to capture light at night instead of adding light to a situation when i don't want it. one thing you need to be careful of when using ISO is you cant move and nether can your object that your taking the photo of.

flash

the pro's of flash is it keeps shadows of you when there is light out side, the con's are it makes you look like you have red eye and hot spots, your back round looks wiped out. flash is always good when it is sunny out side. flash is a bad idea when you are trying to capture light in a dark atmosphere. this photo shows the light out side when it is dark and it still looks amazing.

meter

A light meter measure light. In the first photo the brackets were around the person and in the second photo the brackets were around the computer. spot meter can help you choose what you want your center of your photo to focus on.

surrealism

I have created 2 surreal photos by using Layer masks and gradient with editing little things in the photos like color and drop shadows. i feel that the practice with these surreal photos has given me many ideas for my surreal project.

Art Show

Simple sunflower

Creating simplicity in a photo helps strengthen the composition only because you’re not looking all around the picture and all of the other stuff; you’re just looking at one item. I believe simplicity is a very effective trick.
I love how the sunflower looks from different angles. I also like how the effect changes when I change it from black and white to color. It is hard to tell that they are the same flower from the different angles but they are.

personal post

My Quilt
inside of Me
how people see me on the outside
my past
my future
the quilt squares were difficult for me at first because i didn't know what to chooses as my emphases after i choose the words i was going to use everything be came clear to me. my symbol was clear, i love roses and i always have so i choose that as a big part of me. it was hard to chooses my favorite square only because they all are very different but the same in a way, but if i had to chooses it would be my past and my future i think they turned out the very best.the square inside me was my worst i would have to say only because it was the first one i made and it was different for me to have this much freedom on my project.

Artist Statement

My portfolio it organized starting with rule of thirds and ending with personal words. How I feel about my portfolio is good I think I have done a lot of work on keeping up with my projects I believe I have only missed one which is my blog header, but the rest I feel every good about. I have learned many things over the course of the semester but one thing that stays with me is doing the photo effect. They are pretty easy to remember. I also feel I was the most successful with the photo effects just because I had some great pictures to work with.

I feel I struggled a lot with finishing my work. I only have like one project that I feel is completely done. I always think of changing something. It just depends on the day. I love working with photo shop but at times it can be stressful.

I feel if I keep working with photo shop that I will still improve greatly. There is always more to learn with photo shop. I have already improved a lot for when I first started this class. I have improved on taking photos and being able to do many great things with them. I love this class and I wish I would have took it earlier in my high school years I feel I would have been able to accomplish many more things and it would help with my future career as a cosmetologists.

personal words

The lyrics I chose for this project are moving on by rascal flats.
"I moving on
I’ve dealt with my ghosts and I’ve faced all my demons Finally content with a past regret I’ve found you find strength in your moments of weakness For once I’m at peace with my self I’ve been burned with blame trapped in the past for too long I’m moving on "
I chose these lyrics because all my life i have been getting hurt and i was done. these words helped me move on. these words help me gain the strength to to move on.

Social Issues: unbreakable bond

The social issue is Interracial Relationships. One thing that made me want to do this photo was because you can see the feelings with in the photo, you can feel the heart break and the strong love that they have. I love the layout and the colors i have choose the words are on the left side of the photo, they say " It's worth more than you can imagine", they are in red with the light trying to hit them. the colors in the photo are red, white, gray, and black.

My interpretation of the photo is some times your Opinion isn't always the right one some times it really doesn't matter at all, but it does effect the people you say it to. Many people are against interracial relationship and believe that poeple need to stick to their own race, their own color. In this photo it shows that no matter what people say or do that your love is stronger and it is better to hold together then to pull apart .

scary effects

my favorite was the Allin one only because it was a lot of work and it turned out better then i thought it would, also i learned about how to put a mask on my photo so that i can put a marble texture or broken glass. i had some difficulties with trying to make the blood look real on my vampire photo but i think it turned out way better then i thought it would.i could see photo's like these being in a hunted house or some were scary.

Photographic Effects

my favorite trick that I have learned was masks because I feel i can do more with it.
If i had a choice to see what trick I would want to work with a little more it would be Blowout only because i have not quite mastered it yet.
One of my favorite thing I learned was that I can do more with my pictures to make them look amazing.

Portraits

The artistic portrait I feel was the most successful out of all my portraits.
It was very hard to find good light for my portrait and to be able to ketch the mood of thinking.I choose her ROTC outfit because it was something she felt very strong with and most of all it just states how she is. I feel the area I took the photo at was the perfect spot and she had the perfect attitude towards the photo shot. For the time that we had to take the photos i feel i did very good.

compositional Trick #8 Fill in Flash

fill in flash effects my photo by adding light to things in my picture that should have light on them . you can use fill in flash when you are out side and every thing is light except for your person or thing your taking a picture of.

compositional Trick #7 drawing with light

what sets me apart from other picture is that it feels like she is falling in to the leaves and trying to be the tree. the light help create this feeling by having her look like she wants to be the tree but her shirt is the main thing that makes her stand out and keeps her from being the tree.

compositional Trick #6 Framing

I love my pictures of framing. The pictures Just suck you in and make you look at the emphasis. I feel that i could have gave a better angel to the picture with the poles and i also feel that i could have cut the sign out of my other picture.

compositional Trick #5 Extreme Angles

Extreme angles is a very good trick to know only because it makes the pictures more interesting to look at. It gives you a different feeling then as if you would have taken it straight in front of the image.

compositional Trick #4 Simplicity

creating simplicity in a photo helps strengthen the composition only because your not looking all around the picture and all of the other stuff, your just looking at one item. I believe simplicity is a very effective trick.
